Assisted Living Facilities Program for Scrapbooking

Moving an elderly family member into an Assisted Living Facility or Convalescent Home can be a traumatic event, involving rejection and loneliness for the resident and guilty feelings for the family.  Many times, families don't know what to do or how to relate to their loved one in the facility, so visits become awkward, boring, and uncomfortable, resulting in fewer visits and more isolation for the resident.

Scrapbooking can be an effective way to ignite fresh interest and excitement in family visits to Assisted Living Facility residents.  It gives your loved one a sense of belonging and purpose, something to look forward to, plus providing a connection to familiar memories and environments and a way for them to make a positive contribution to a family project.  It provides common ground for conversation for adult family members, plus a fun, exciting activity for children to participate in during visits.  And scrapbooking allows the whole family to concentrate on more pleasant times, while also giving the opportunity to talk about any unresolved issues.  Even the facility staff benefit from scrapbooking, as problems associated with a lack of activities and resident loneliness are frequently solved by it.

We, at YourLegacies, provide Assisted Living Facilities with a number of options to set up a scrapbooking program for residents and their families.

We want to help you make your loved one's stay at the facility as pleasant and as fulfilling as possible.  Ask your Activities Director about how to join scrapbooking classes with YourLegacies.  And if your loved one's facility doesn't yet offer our scrapbooking classes, ask your Activities Director to get in touch with us.  Whether you are staff or family members, please don't hesitate to call us to ask about special situations and needs, 866-446-2424, or send us an email.
